The Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture Mr. Addisu Arega, engaged in a fruitful meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Anil Kumar Rai.

This crucial discussion aimed to enhance agricultural development through strengthened collaboration between Ethiopia and India.
The dialogue revolved several key areas critical for advancing Ethiopia’s agricultural sector, including mechanization and digital agriculture, which aim to modernize farming methods and enhance self-sufficiency and productivity.
The two sister countries also emphasized the importance of agricultural inputs and innovation, recognizing that access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and technology is essential for successful farming.
By enhancing capacity building i.e. the skills and knowledge of those on the ground, Ethiopia aims to bolster its agricultural workforce and ensure sustainable practices.
Modern irrigation technologies emerged as a vital topic as well, particularly in the context of semi-arid regions where water scarcity poses a significant challenge. Implementing advanced irrigation techniques can help maximize water use, supporting more resilient farming practices in vulnerable areas.
Throughout the meeting, both sides explored practical pathways for deepening cooperation and facilitating technology transfer. The discussions underscored the potential for increased investment in Ethiopia’s agricultural transformation, inspired by India’s rich experiences in modernizing its own agricultural practices.
Ethiopia is optimistic about translating these discussions into tangible actions that will benefit farmers, boost agricultural productivity, and further our national goals for food sovereignty.

Generally, this engagement marks a significant step towards a partnership rooted in shared knowledge and innovation.
