Addis Ababa, May 8, 2026, Ministry of Agriculture: Ethiopiaโ€™s State Minister of Agriculture, Dessalegn Teshale, met with Azerbaijanโ€™s Deputy Minister of Economy, Elnur Aliyev, to discuss opportunities for deepening cooperation in the agricultural and horticulture sectors.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, with Azerbaijan expressing keen interest in partnering with Ethiopia, particularly in crop development. The engagement underscored the potential for a mutually beneficial partnership that could further deepen economic ties between the two nations.

The anticipated collaboration is expected to contribute meaningfully to Ethiopiaโ€™s efforts to enhance food security and expand export-oriented agricultural production. Key areas of focus include the application of modern, technology-driven agricultural practices to boost productivity and sustainability.
The two parties also agreed on the importance of establishing a joint technical team soon to facilitate the practical implementation of agreed initiatives.

This dialogue builds on the momentum generated by the bilateral cooperation framework initiated during the official visit of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed to Azerbaijan, reflecting the shared ambition to elevate diplomatic and economic relations to a higher level.
