Ethiopia’s Digital Agriculture Roadmap Implementation and Digital Tools Profiling

Ethiopia is embracing a bold digital future for its agriculture sector. The Digital Agriculture Roadmap (2025–2032) outlines a national strategy to equip farmers and pastoralists with digital tools that enhance productivity, resilience, and market access.

This roadmap builds on the 2022 Digital Agriculture Extension and Advisory Services (DAEAS) strategy and expands across the entire agricultural value chain. It identifies 22 use cases and 32 enabling initiatives, with a phased implementation plan from 2025 to 2032.

The Roadmap categorizes use cases and initiatives across three layers:

● Solution areas (Agricultural Intelligence, supply chain, financial services, pricing and marketing, extension and advisory etc.)
● Digital stack (interoperable datasets with analytics, farmer profile data etc.
● Enabling environment (data policy and guidelines, innovative devices and connectivity, digital literacy, etc.)

The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with Precision Development (PxD), is leading the implementation of DAR. As an initial step to coordinate and facilitate collaboration among the digital agricultural ecosystem actors, we have developed a dynamic dashboard (to be updated regularly). Live Dashboard: The interactive dashboard below tracks digital agriculture projects across Ethiopia. These initiatives encompass advisory services, mechanization, AI, financial tools, and more, reaching over 10 million farmers nationwide.
