The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI), held the annual National Digital Agriculture Extension and Advisory Service Stakeholder Forum.
Advisor of the State Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture, Professor Ali Mohammed, speaking at the forum said that remarkable changes are being recorded through the expansion of Information Communication Technology infrastructure and digitalization.
The Advisor further stated that the Government of Ethiopia launched the “Digital Ethiopia 2030” strategy to modernize public services delivery and its accessibility. The government in collaboration with development partners is implementing several projects aimed at modernizing agricultural extension and advisory services.
Professor Ali explained that expanding digital agricultural extension services is one of the key areas of focus of the Agriculture and Rural Development Strategy. He emphasized that achieving sustainable and quality extension and advisory services requires responding to the rapidly growing digital ecosystem and properly utilizing technological opportunities offered.
Executive Director of the Agricultural and Horticultural Extension lead Executive at the Ministry of Agriculture, Yenenesh Egu, said that the purpose of the forum was to create a clear understanding of digital activities undertaken in the country and strengthen coordination among the government, the private sector, and civil society.
The forum featured presentations and discussions on the current status of digital agricultural extension and advisory services in Ethiopia.
