Addis Ababa, July 15, 2026 (Ministry of Agriculture) โ Ethiopia has been selected to host the 9th African Agri Investment Indaba (AAI 2026), following a competitive bidding process that saw the country emerge as the preferred host for one of Africa’s premier agricultural investment forums.
The decision was announced by the African Agri Investment Council on July 3, 2026. The Council cited Ethiopia’s extensive experience in hosting major international conferences, strong organizational capacity, and commitment to successfully delivering high-profile continental and global events as key factors behind its selection.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, the country’s successful bid was further strengthened by the priority it has accorded to the agricultural sector, the significant progress achieved in agricultural development, and its readiness to host a leading platform dedicated to agricultural investment and food security.
The African Agri Investment Indaba 2026, scheduled to take place in mid-November 2026 in Addis Ababa, is expected to bring together more than 900 prominent African and international investors. Organized by Ethiopia in collaboration with the African Agricultural Council, the event will be one of the continent’s largest gatherings focused on agricultural investment, agribusiness, and food security.
The forum will convene a wide range of stakeholders, including private sector investors, agricultural producers, financial institutions, researchers, government agencies, policymakers, and development partners from across Africa and beyond. It will provide a platform for networking, partnership building, and exploring investment opportunities throughout the agricultural value chain.
Hosting the event is expected to create a significant opportunity for Ethiopia to showcase its vast agricultural potential, attract investment, and strengthen international partnerships. It is also anticipated to enhance the country’s global image and reinforce its growing reputation as a destination for international conferences, business, and tourism.
Recognized as one of Africa’s most influential platforms for agricultural investment and food security, the African Agri Investment Indaba (AAI) aims to mobilize substantial investment into the continent’s agricultural sector and contribute to sustainable food security. The forum also plays a crucial role in facilitating access to finance, strengthening trade and cooperation among African countries, promoting agricultural trade, and creating market linkages that support the transformation of Africa’s agricultural economy.
Ethiopia was selected over four other candidate countries, namely Egypt, Rwanda, Morocco, and Cรดte d’Ivoire, underscoring international recognition of the country’s growing role in agricultural development and investment promotion across the continent.
