Addis Ababa, April 29, 2026 (MoA) โ€” The Soil Nutrient Roadmap (SNR) Technical Team concluded a three-day workshop at the Ministry of Agriculture, marking a pivotal step in Ethiopiaโ€™s transition toward evidence-based agricultural decision-making.

Ethiopia is entering a transformative phase in agricultural development moving beyond diagnosing soil health challenges to implementing precise, data-driven actions at scale. Built on years of research and increasingly robust digital data systems, the national focus is now on closing the gap between scientific knowledge and practical, on-the-ground application.

Guided by the National_Fertilizer_and_Soil_Health_Roadmap (2026โ€“2035), the Ministry of Agriculture, Ethiopia and partners are enabling decision makers to act with greater precision. By identifying high-potential hotspots, the initiative directs investments where they can deliver the greatest impact.

Transforming soil science into actionable investment is central to securing Ethiopiaโ€™s food future, restoring degraded landscapes, and ensuring that every hectare of land reaches its full productive potential. While the country has made notable progress in understanding soil health through strong research institutions and data platforms, a key challenge remains translating this knowledge into clear, prioritized, and scalable actions.

Building on the outcomes of the workshop and guidance from the Ministry and partners, modeling and visualization tools will be refined in the coming weeks to better meet the needs of decision-makers and technical stakeholders. This will be followed by targeted training, documentation, and a formal system handover to the Ministry of Agriculture.
